Jeffrey A. Davis

Jeffrey A. Davis has more than 20 years of news media and national public relations experience. A partner with Sawmill Marketing Public Relations, he has extensive expertise in corporate positioning and reputation management, particularly in media relations, media training, crisis communications and social media.

His agency experience includes Crosby Marketing Communications in Annapolis, Md., where he served as VP, integrated marketing and senior vice president, and Carton Donofrio Partners (formerly Richardson, Myers & Donofrio) and Trahan, Burden & Charles in Baltimore where he developed public relations programs for a variety of Fortune 500 corporations and brands. Client experience includes the American Occupational Therapy Association, Armstrong World Industries, Baltimore Orioles, Honeywell, Kaiser Permanente, K. Hovnanian Homes, Lucite, Major League Baseball Properties, the National Coalition for Cancer Survivorship, the National Investment Center for the Seniors Housing & Care Industries, Park City Mountain Resort, Pfizer, Rubbermaid Commercial Products and Verizon Yellow Pages. Davis is a recognized expert in social media, particularly how organizations can successfully integrate corporate blogging strategies, Facebook and Twitter with traditional communications programs. In 2008 the Washington Business Journal wrote about his use of Twitter for public relations and he continues to be a speaker and workshop presenter on the topic of social media.

A blogger for more than four years, he frequently writes about social media as a key marketing strategy, is a regular conference presenter on the topic and spearheaded the “Sawmill Guide to Baltimore Media on Twitter” listing that has been recognized nationally as the premiere resource of its kind.

Davis is a member of the board of directors for the Parks and People Foundation in Baltimore, the Baltimore-Washington chapter of Sales and Marketing Executives International (SMEI) and serves as a communications advisor for the Kunta Kinte-Alex Haley Foundation, Annapolis, Md., the Susan G. Komen for the Cure/Maryland Affiliate and the American Red Cross of Central Maryland.

Prior to entering public relations, he served as a reporter for daily newspapers in Ohio, New Jersey and Maryland. Currently a member of the National Press Club and the Counselor’s Academy, he holds the APR accreditation from the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA), held the position of Maryland PRSA President for two years, and serves as a senior judge for the national Silver Anvil Awards program. He holds a bachelor of arts degree in journalism from Ohio Wesleyan University.
